Tanzania's LNG Plant Could Take Seven Years to be Ready

Tanzania’s proposed LNG project could take about seven years to complete, an official from Statoil was quoted as saying last week.
According to Statoil’s Tanzania operations manager if all goes as planned, the plant will commence operations between 2022 or 2023, reported Tanzania Daily News on Saturday.
"We estimate the project will take seven years upon its completion. We have to make soil studies to determine the stability of the site which may take a year, two years will be for engineering and design studies and about four years for actual construction," said Mannes during a tour of Tanzanian religious leaders at Statoil gas plant in Karsto, Norway.
Mannes added that recommendation for suitable sites for the plant has already been made and currently, project partners are nominating experts to form a joint team that will oversee the project, Tanzania Daily News said.
The projects will be a joint venture of Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Statoil, BG Group, ExxonMobil, Ophir Energy and Pavilion Energy.
It will be delivered parallel with Block 1, 3 & 4 upstream project involving TPDC, BG, Ophir and Pavilion and Block 2 upstream project involving TPDC, Statoil and ExxonMobil.
