The Public Oil Enterprise of Kenya (NOC) has resuscitated the quest for an essential accomplice, to finance its oil and gas investigation in its Block 14T situated in the Lake Magadi Bowl.

NOC last week moved to employ a specialist who will be accused of assisting the organization with bundling the information it has accumulated such a long ways about the oil block to tempt likely accomplices.

The specialist will "support further investigation drives in Block 14T, support information bundling and promoting in Block 14T with point of getting an accomplice," said the organization in a revelation.

Its past endeavours to get an accomplice for the task, the latest being in 2019, neglected to yield organic product. Block 14T is only south of Blocks 10BB and 13T where business revelations of oil have been made.

The Block covers an area of in excess of 7,000 square kilometers and hurries to the line with Tanzania.

NOC is likewise looking to penetrate a stratigraphic well in the block. A stratigraphic well is bored to assemble data about the idea of an oil block with no aim to create oil or gas from such a well.

The enterprise marked a creation imparting agreement to the public authority for Block 14T in November 2010 which became compelling in February 2011 for an underlying investigation time of three years.

The agreement has since been broadened a few times with the furthest down the line expansion to February 14, 2023, as per Evaluator General Nancy Gathungu.

Ms Gathungu expressed that by June 30, 2021, NOC had burned through Sh2.42 billion on investigation exercises in the block, underlining the immense consumption expected to subsidize those exercises.

NOC is buried in monetary challenges, even as it battles to reimburse a Sh6.35 billion credit office from KCB and one more credit of Sh2.21 billion from Stanbic Bank.
